Compare the work.
Then compare the price.

BEFORE YOU COMPARE

Give each provider
the same starting point.

This is a planning worksheet, not repair advice or an emergency service. If there is an immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service.

01 / OBSERVATIONS

Describe what you noticed.

On your own paper, note the affected fixture, when the issue appeared, and whether it is constant or intermittent. Separate observations from a diagnosis you have not confirmed.

02 / SCOPE

Compare the same job.

Ask for the work, materials, price and expected completion in writing. Ask why a quote differs substantially from the others; a low figure alone does not settle the choice.

03 / OPEN QUESTIONS

Keep unknowns visible.

Use “unknown” for anything a quote does not explain. An empty fee line is not evidence that the fee is zero. Bring your unanswered questions to the provider.

Written-estimate guidance: Federal Trade Commission.

PRINTABLE WORKSHEET

Three quotes.
One comparison.

Print this page and fill it in from written quotes you already have. The cells are blank writing spaces, not online fields. Nothing you write on your printed copy is sent to nonono.

Use the same repair or replacement scope for all three columns. Mark missing information “unknown.”

CHECK THE ARITHMETIC

Total = base price + additional fees + quoted tax − discount. Add only amounts that are not already included. A deposit is part of the total, not an additional charge. Remaining balance = total − deposit. If a figure is unknown, the comparison is incomplete.

All amounts should use the same currency. This worksheet does not estimate market prices, calculate taxes, verify a contractor or recommend a quote.

BEFORE YOU AGREE

Resolve the blanks
in writing.

Check licensing with the relevant state or county authority and ask for insurance evidence. Read the agreement, including dates and payment terms. Avoid full payment before work starts. Local requirements and deposit limits vary.
